Juliette Zidek

Hello! I am a PhD researcher in building technology at Digital Architecture Research & Technologies (DART Lab) within the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan.

As a researcher, I explore how to improve the architecture industry’s environmental impact and its connection with the more-than-human world, looking to nature for inspiration. Utilizing computational design and digital fabrication, my research focuses on developing new methods of regenerative design and construction that integrate living systems to support healthy and diverse urban ecologies.

As a LEED-certified, licensed architect, I have 8 years of experience in the AEC industry. Prior to joining DART, I worked as a Senior Designer at Studio Gang Architects and Perkins+Will in Chicago, IL. I received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture degree with a focus in engineering from the University of Illinois, as well as an M.S. in Digital and Material Technologies from the University of Michigan.

I view interdisciplinary collaboration as a key for innovation in architecture – please feel free to reach out if you would like to connect!

WHAT I DO WHEN I AM NOT WORKING WITH ROBOTS…

You’ll either find me outside or cuddled up with a good book and my cat, Mia. I also enjoy sketching, playing ping pong, traveling, and most recently, learning Persian!
